WHAT METHOD OF PAYMENT IS ACCEPTED?

Lake County enables you to pay your property taxes on-line with a major credit card or e-check. Credit cards and e-checks are only accepted for on-line payments at this time.

IS THERE A FEE TO PAY BY CREDIT CARD?

There is a convenience fee that will be determined by the total amount of your tax payment. Fees will be the same for any card used. Convenience Fees are not collected by the Lake County Treasurer and are not refundable for any reason.

IS THERE A FEE TO PAY BY E-CHECK?

There is a standard convenience fee for e-checks regardless of the amount of your tax payment. Convenience Fees are not collected by the Lake County Treasurer and are not refundable for any reason.

HOW SOON WILL THE TREASURER’S OFFICE GET NOTICE OF MY PAYMENT?

Your payment will be applied to your taxes in the Treasurer's Office within three working days. The actual date you made the on-line payment will be used as the payment date in the Treasurer's Office.

HOW DO I PAY MORE THAN ONE PROPERTY?

You are able to pay one or multiple parcels by simply locating the parcel via our tax search and adding the amount due to the cart.

WHY WHEN I ENTERED MY NAME DID OTHER PROPERTIES COME UP?

All properties listed with the same name will come up. You will have to click on your property for payment.

CAN I MAKE A PARTIAL PAYMENT?

Only the full amount for each installment will be accepted.

WHY DOES MY PROPERTY DISPLAY BUT I DON’T HAVE THE OPTION TO CONTINUE TO PAY?

Some parcels will be restricted from online payments, including properties listed for tax sale, which must be paid directly at the Treasurer’s Office. Personal property judgments will not appear for online payment; the payment amount and type must be obtained from the Treasurer’s Office. Properties under bankruptcy or payment plans cannot be paid online.

HOW DO I GET A RECEIPT OF PAYMENT?

When your transaction is complete you will be able to print a copy of you receipt for your records. If you include your e-mail address you will also receive a message verifying payment.

CAN YOU EXPLAIN MY EXEMPTIONS AND ASSESSED VALUES?

You can contact the Auditors Office at 219-755-3120 regarding exemptions and the Assessors Office at 219-755-3100 regarding assessed values.
